There is no "typical" type of person that becomes a Marine. No matter what you look like or where you come from, each of you can become a Marine if you truly want to.
👉Marines come in all shapes and sizes and we come from a wide range of backgrounds. It is a common misconception that those who join the USMC must be muscular hard-asses who are superb athletes or that they are the lower part of society. Reality tells us this is simply not true. No matter your size, race, color, sexual preference, social status, education level, etc; as long as you put all of your heart into the Marine Corps, then you will make it.
👉You have to remember that Marines come from the same streets that you live on. So this means the Marine Corps is made up of all types of people some of who are: gay, sensitive, strong, smart, good looking, rich, poor, athletic, not athletic, risk takers, quiet types, party animals, religious types, atheist, democrats, republicans, nerdy types, shy types and so on and so forth.
👉What all Marines have in common is that they all are initially trained the same way and this is what makes us Marines. If you are worried about not being "Marine material" then that is your problem. There is no such thing as Marine material or a typical Marine, so the sooner you understand and accept this, the sooner you can join.
👉In many cases many of you are going to convince yourselves that you are not Marine material and this is a giant mistake. Yes, the USMC does expect a tad more from you and it is a special breed, but you can do it if you have it in your heart. If you qualify for enlistment then the Marine Corps is saying that you have the body and mind to make it as a Marine, so don't let you not being like others to cause you to not enlist if you truly want to.
